Overview

La Cantine Du Troquet Dupleix, nestled in the heart of Paris's 15th arrondissement at 53 Bd de Grenelle, is a restaurant that masterfully captures the essence of authentic French dining. From the moment you step inside, the warm and cozy ambiance invites you to slow down and savor every bite, making it an ideal spot for locals and travelers seeking genuine Parisian charm.

The culinary offerings here are a testament to traditional French flavors elevated with finesse. Signature dishes like the tender Veal Stew and the richly sauced Steak in Red Wine evoke comfort while showcasing expert preparation. Seafood lovers will appreciate the delicate Noix de Saint Jacques and the razor clams, praised by diners for their freshness and subtle complexity. The Planche de Charcuterie and Burgundy Snails remain beloved staples, drawing from the classic French palate.

The restaurant’s commitment to quality extends beyond the main plates. Starters such as the Planche de Crevettes Roses highlight a focus on freshness, while a crusty, rustic bread—a detail Cheryl R. fondly recalls—perfectly complements the meal. For dessert, crème brûlée and the decadent house-made gâteau au chocolat provide a satisfying conclusion to the experience.

La Cantine Du Troquet Dupleix’s space strikes a balance between lively and intimate, crafting an atmosphere where both romantic dinners and casual meals with friends feel equally at home. The staff’s attentiveness, particularly the memorable service by a white-bearded server skilled in English, enhances the welcoming vibe—a quality not lost on international guests. This sensitivity to communication makes it approachable for tourists while retaining a deeply French authenticity.

The restaurant also embraces a menu diversity accommodating both traditionalists and those seeking new tastes—from classic dishes like Civet de Lièvre to lighter options such as Caillé de Chèvre with tomatoes and pistou. This variety appeals to a broad audience who values both heritage and well-crafted innovation.

Located just a short walk from iconic landmarks like the Eiffel Tower, La Cantine Du Troquet Dupleix offers a retreat from the bustle of Parisian sightseeing. Its blend of excellent cuisine, genuine ambiance, and thoughtful service creates an experience that resonates deeply with visitors. Frequent guests, including those returning multiple times during brief stays, highlight its ability to leave a lasting impression.

For anyone searching for a restaurant where the spirit of Parisian gastronomy thrives amid warm hospitality and a vibrant but unpretentious setting, La Cantine Du Troquet Dupleix is a compelling destination. It’s a place where every dish tells a story, and every visit feels like coming home.

Food is perfect. Our favourite is the razor clam. But everything basically tastes perfect. We’re in Paris for 3 days and came here twice.

This place has fluffy croissants, delicate cakes and delicious coffees. If you’re nearby you won’t be disappointed. The owner is so friendly and welcoming. Will definitely come here again before we leave.

My fiancé and I visited La Cantine Du Troquet Dupleix right after Christmas, and it was the coziest, most inviting spot—perfect for a chilly Paris evening. The ambiance was warm and buzzing with that classic Parisian charm, and we instantly felt like locals. We were recommended a white wine by the restaurant, and we're still raving about it! It paired perfectly with our meal, and we regret not snapping a photo—would love to know what it was so we can hunt it down again. To start, we had the Planche de Crevettes Roses—plump, flavorful shrimp served simply, letting the freshness shine through. Their bread deserves a special mention: the crust was beautifully hard and rustic, while the flavor was uniquely addictive. Probably some of the best we've had in Paris. For our main, we tried the beef in red wine sauce, which was rich, tender, and packed with flavor. It came with a side of fries, likely fried in duck fat, that were golden, crisp, and seasoned to perfection. We finished with the Gâteau Au Chocolat Maison—decadent, smooth, and deeply satisfying. A huge thank you to Leo from B&B Relais 12bis for recommending this hidden gem. Everything from the food to the atmosphere felt authentically Parisian. We absolutely can’t wait to return!

It was a super perfect restaurant that I visited by chance. White hair and beard server’s recommendations and service are very impressive and perfect. I’m a Korean who cannot speak French, but they’re very good at English that It was not problem as communicated. I’d really want to re-visit this restaurant if I come again this city. Although I don't know his name, but I really appreciate to the white beard server for having a wonderful experience for my couple in this city’s last night! SUPER SUPER BEST RESTAURANT EVER!!

This place is about a 20 minute walk from the Eiffel Tower. It’s a nice cozy place inside. They offer menus that are in English if you can not read French. The food is delicious! We recommend the mackerel, cod back, lamb shoulder, and steak. On the menu it states the steak comes rare but you can order to your liking. All you have to do is ask.

Honestly there are better French restaurants within walking distance of this one. The food was certainly good, however a lot of it seemed prepared well in advance. The pate was dried out and seemed shop bought. I regularly eat Rare beef and here the beef is stated as being served rare. What we got was a huge lump of blue beef, with the inside being completely cold. The desserts were the best part of the dinner.

I had an amazing dinner here! Just walked from Eiffel tower on the way to my hotel, came across this place and we love the food here. The razor clam was outstanding. For dessert, we ordered a coffee mousse with two thin pastries, it’s very delicious!

An excellent meal in Paris. This restaurant was recommended and did not disappoint. Located a short walk from the Eiffel Tower but far enough to avoid too many tourists. Staff were very friendly and helpful- providing good recommendations. Also cautioned us on a few dishes that were considered very good but are not for everyone. Provided a nice wine recommendation- see photo. It gets busy so go early or get a reservation.
